Asthma is a condition in which a patient’s airways become narrow, inflamed, and swell and produce extra mucus, making it difficult to breathe. Asthma can be minor, or it can hinder daily activities. In some cases, it may lead to a life-threatening seizure.

Traditionally, asthma is often divided into two types – intrinsic asthma and extrinsic asthma. However, as per the modern pharmaceutical world, there can be numerous asthma types, such as occupational asthma, steroid-resistant asthma, exercise-induced asthma, intrinsic asthma, nocturnal asthma, and allergic asthma. Besides that, doctors now use four primary classifications to determine the severity of asthma, including moderate persistent, mild persistent, severe persistent, and mild intermittent.

Allergic Asthma

More than 87% of the patients have allergic asthma. This is the most common kind, which can be diagnosed when particular allergies trigger asthma attacks. The nice thing here is that such allergies are easily identifiable and avoidable if you get the treatment at the right time. So, make sure you reach your doctor quickly once you experience any such thing.

Intrinsic Asthma

This is one of the most widespread asthma types that usually affect people aged 40 years and up. It does not usually occur in kids. The cases where children have been affected by intrinsic asthma are rare. It is primarily caused by constant inhalation of irritating chemicals, such as smoke, cleaning products, and perfumes. It is not a manageable condition to treat. Therefore, you need to be extremely alert and talk to your doctor about every symptom you encounter, which might indicate such problems. The fundamental idea is to prevent the condition from worsening.

Exercise-Induced Asthma

This is another common type of asthma, and it usually occurs in people who regularly practice heavy tasks. One of the critical signs of this disease includes coughing fits caused by exercising heavily. So, you must monitor your coughs while you exercise. When you work out profoundly, your lungs lose the essential heat and moisture, resulting in asthmatic attacks and breathing problems.

Sleep-Related Or Nocturnal Asthma

In this kind of asthma, symptoms occur in the patient during the night hours. You must talk to your doctor promptly if you notice any such thing. Some common possible causes for nocturnal or sleep-related asthma include Acid Reflux (gastroesophageal reflux disorder), Allergens in the bedroom, and Allergens in the lowered room temperature.

Occupational Asthma

Occupational asthma has also become more common these days – probably because of the air’s elevated level of pollution. These kinds of asthma occur with prolonged exposure to industrial chemicals and allergens. Inhalation of dust and chemical fumes is the primary reason for these types of asthmatic attacks.

Steroid-Resistant Asthma

You are strongly advised to take your medications as instructed by the doctor. If you don’t take medicines on time or overdose, you are always at the risk of contracting a more severe condition, known as steroid-resistant asthma. In this case, the patient completely stops responding to the medications.
